When using a Java application its border disappears

Last modified: Thursday, September 3, 2009 11:37 PM

When you open a Java application in Single Window Mode, its border disappears and you cannot move, resize, maximize or minimize the application.

This problem occurs when you run Java applications through Xmanager in multiple window mode. In multiple window mode, each X application runs inside a Windows frame.

Some Java applications and Matlab and PVCS request remote window manager which collides with the Xmanager window manager.

To resolve this problem, set Xmanager to use only local window manager or try using an alternative window manager such as twm or mwm.

To configure Xmanager to use local window manager only, please follow the procedure below:

  1. Open Properties of a Xconfig profile.
If you run a Java application in Xstart, do the followings to open the Properties dialog box.
    1. Start Xstart and click Advanced.
Result: Advanced Options dialog box opens.
    2. Click the X Server tab.
    3. Click Configures.
  2. In the General tab, click Settings of Window Mode.
  3. In Window Mode Settings dialog box, click the Multiple Window Mode tab.
  4. In the Window Manager list box, select Local Only.
  5. Click OK.
