Bug? XShell always give a dialog of "Encountered a improper argument"

Recent version of XShell include the latest 4.0104, when I use xshell to read BBS, there is always a dialog to tell something wrong. Is this a bug ?

This looks like a bug but we will need more information to found the cause. Please send us the following information:

1. Can you duplicate the problem all the time? If so, please tell us the steps.
2. What is the language type?

Re: Bug? XShell always give a dialog of "Encountered a improper argument"

1. The problem happens randomly. Though it appears frequently, but it is hard for me to repeat it.

2. I use fixedsys font in xshell and the "translation encoding" is default language
In my linux term, LANG="en_US" TERM="xterm" and the content xshell displays is Chinese character.

BTW: The old version of xshell and putty works well.

Re: Bug? XShell always give a dialog of "Encountered a improper argument"

This message is from MFC and there is no easy way for us to find out what is causing this message.

But reinstalling the software may fix this problem. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling Xshell 4.

Could you try creating a new Xshell session that connects to the same host and try again? A developer said this problem may occur when a session is missing some data.

You can try to cat some binary file on xshell, it'll display like this:

-»¿½¸>°°¿TAw|¿j¿&ua¿$U>J0]¿s¿¿fy³¿`t¹¿}}Z®¿R¿©\)«¿p+¿¦¿o¿3}(¿+¿E¿*¿\¿t¿C+¿¿u\¿%9¿QY~4

KK
wC]¿ rE´b};e¿B¬þ?¿K¿¯`I·36I&%

then you'll see the dialog popups continues, sometime I have to use task manager to close xshell.

Re: Bug? XShell always give a dialog of "Encountered a improper argument"

Hello, I'm now using Xshell 5. The problem is still there. My terminal type is xterm with "Copy selected texts to the clipboard automatically" and "Use URL Hyperlink" options enabled. After I spliting the window by stroking "ctrl+b,ctrl+%" key map, the dialog always popups when the mouse moves across the pane separator line. But if I disabled the option "Use URL Hyperlink", it would never popup.

Yes, I meet the same problem EVERYDAY.
And I know the reproducing method.

1. Set your Terminal Encoding to Unicode (UTF-8)
2. Do "cat /dev/urandom" and press CTRL + C to stop it when random characters on the screen.
3. Try to move your mouse over random characters.
