How do you port forward with a Linksys cable modem router?

Hello,

I am running Windows XP, 1.4GHz Athlon
using a Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL router
trying to connect to a Unix server running Solaris 2.6

What do I need to setup under port forwarding for the router in order to be able to access the CDE? I can already connect with a simple xterm, but I cannot get the Desktop environment to work.

THanks,
James

You can add a line in C:Program FilesXmanager1.3.9Xmanager.ini file as following:

[StartUp]
XdmcpConnectionAddress=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

The IP address should be a public address used by Linksys router. And also it should be a fixed one, or else you need to change the file whenever your router resets.

This is a partial solution and if possible, please run an xterm with Xstart and then you can run "dtwm" or other CDE applications.
