No hardware rendering

Hi,

I'm attempting to backdisplay an OpenGL application from Linux onto my Windows PC using your Xmanager X-Server. However, it appears the graphics card is not being detected correctly and software rendering is used instead. I'm connecting to the remote machine using SSH (puTTY) and setting the display variable to the local PC.

I've attached the output from running glxinfo on both your X-server (glxinfo_xmanager_swrendering.txt) and an alternative X server "Open Text Exceed" (glxinfo_exceed_accelerated.txt). Exceed is correctly detecting the GFX card and enabling hardware rendering whilst Xmanager is not.

This is evident by the lines:

OpenGL vendor string: Microsoft Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GDI Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.1.0

in the Xmanager glxinfo output.

Let me know if you need any further info.

TIA,

James Bray

Hi James,

Unfortunately, Xmanager 5 does not currently support hardware rendering. We plan to include hardware rendering in our next major version of Xmanager.

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification. I'll keep an eye out for new versions.

At the risk of sounding condescending, it might be worth a look at some of your wording on your website. On the page:

https://www.netsarang.com/products/xmg_overview.html

The last paragraph stats:

"Be creative with 3D applications
Start your creative work with Xmanager. Other PC X Servers may require you to purchase extra 3D add-on. With version 5, Xmanager Standard come in standard with the OpenGL support. Xmanager supports OpenGL out of box and allows running CAD and other GLX based 3D tools with local hardware acceleration."

Hi James,

It's not condescending at all. I apologize for the confusion. I'll have a talk with our team concerning this issue. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
