xmanager and winscp

xmanager and winscp

I wanted to connect to my linux server from my PC... I downloaded both xmanager and winscp.... I know we use xmanager to connect to the server but wat abt winscp... I need to know the difference between the two and why we use each of them... later in xstart I gave host name, protocol as SSH and then user name and password... I didn't know wat to give in the command box... I gave run and the failed to connect.... I really don't know much abt it... can anyone please mention why I am not able to connect and wer I went wrong and how to establish the connection... thanks.....

You have to first understand the difference between X Server and terminal emulator.

X server is a software that enables running graphic applications. Xmanager is a PC X server. It allows displaying the remote UNIX and Linux based graphical software on Windows desktops.

Terminal emulator is a software that you can use to access the text based system via various connection protocols such as SSH and Telnet. WinSCP is terminal emulator. Also, WinSCP is a FTP/SFTP file transfer client but this is probably not what you are using it for.

You can use Xmanager to run graphical software that is installed on the remote Linux or UNIX based servers on Windows machines. To help you understand how you can do this, please read the following articles:
