Re: Unable to establish the connection with X-Manager to AIX client

The log file shows Xmanager failed to reach the remote host. A few possible causes are:

1. Remote server is not running the display manager such as xdm, gdm or kdm. Make sure the display manager is installed and running on the remote host.

2. XDMCP is not enabled on the remote host. Use the following instruction to enable XDMCP on the remote server:

/faq/xmanager/list

3. Firewall on the remote server is blocking UDP port 177. Allow UDP port 177 on the remote server.

If the problem persists, please send us the following information:

1. What is the IP address of the remote host?
2. What is the name and version of the remote host?
3. Another Xmanager log

Re: Unable to establish the connection with X-Manager to AIX client

Hi,

The IP Address range starts like as below...

The remote host IP range is as 160.212.**.***

The Client IP is 10.254.*.***

The remote host is AIX with version 5.3 and the client is Widnows XP SP2...

Please suggest us at the earliest...There is no firewall block between these two all the ports opened...

Thanks

Re: Unable to establish the connection with X-Manager to AIX client

If not firewall, there is something blocking the connection from the remote server to your PC. Routers and gateways are known to do this.

The easiest way to fix this problem is by installing OpenSSH and running CDE via SSH tunnel. To do this:

1. Install OpenSSH
2. Enable X11Forwarding on SSH daemon and restart.
3. Run CDE from Xstart. Here is how:

Xmanager Tutorial : Running X application through SSH tunnel with Xstart
