[SOLUTION] How to use XDMCP on Ubuntu 10.10 with Xmanager - Updating gdm

gdm package included in the earlier Ubuntu 10.10 releases supported IPv6 only. And, this caused XDMCP connection failure. This gdm bug has been fixed in the later releases. Please follow the instruction below to update the GDM package and enable XDMCP on Ubuntu 10.10:

1. Download the attached file and upload it to the server. And, enter the following command to update gdm:

$ sudo dpkg -i gdm_2320-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

2. Open the /etc/gdm/custom.conf file and set XDMCP to true as following:

[xdmcp]
Enable=true
DisplaysPerHost=10

3. Reboot the system.

/etc/init.d/gdm restart
