server sent a disconnect packet

Hi! I am attempting to connect to unix computers using ssh. I am using the shell setting but, when i attempt to connect, I get several error messages. The first error message is "Failed to find xmanager window". Second, "Server sent a disconnect packet". Third I get something about ieof for nonexistent channel 0.

I have like no knowledge of these things but it seems that the host key is verified so that shouldn't be an issue and I am using the shell setting as well. Any help for the n00b?

The reply message is as follows:

Re: server sent a disconnect packet

It seems the $DISPLAY value is manually assigned to 'psqe.ps.uci.edu'. Check the login scripts and comment out any lines that is assigning the DISPLAY value. The DISPLAY value is assigned automatically upon logging in.

If the problem persists, please send us the following information:

1. Your Windows version and type
2. Execution command used

Re: server sent a disconnect packet

Try this:
1. Open Xstart.
2. Select a session.
3. For Protocol, select SSH.
4. Click Setup.
RESULT: SSH Protocol Setup dialog box opens up.
5. Select the Option tab.
6. In Command Execution, select Allocate a pseudo terminal before executing the command.
7. Click OK to save the changes.
8. Start the session.

Also, try removing the $HOME/.Xauthority file.
