To use those keys, please do the following steps:

1. Copy /usr/dt/lib/bindings/sun to ~/.motifbind

# cp /usr/dt/lib/bindings/sun ~/.motifbind

2. Run X Keyboard Editor in the Xmanager folder.
3. Press F5 on the keyboard editor and the keysym values as:

Unshifted: F16
Shifted: NoSymbol
Mode Switch: SunCopy
Shift Mode Switch: NoSymbol

4. Press F6 on the keyboard editor and the keysym values as:

Unshifted: F20
Shifted: NoSymbol
Mode Switch: SunCut
Shift Mode Switch: NoSymbol

5. Press F7 on the keyboard editor and the keysym values as:

Unshifted: F19
Shifted: NoSymbol
Mode Switch: Find
Shift Mode Switch: NoSymbol

6. Save the keyboard file.
7. Restart Xmanager.

This will enable the F5, F6 and F7 keys to work as Copy, Cut and Find keys.

You need to connect to the Solaris through CDE(Common Desktop Environment) to use this feature.

We hope this can help you.

The first step should be done on the Sun machine and other steps on your Windows PC.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: How to map find, cut, copy keys of sunsolaris to PC

It seems that dt programs recognizes F11 ~ F20 as special function keys and Xmanager can't change it arbitrarily.

To emulate all the special keys, you need to do the following steps:

  1. Copy /usr/dt/lib/bindings/sun file into ~/.motifbind:
     # cp /usr/dt/lib/bindings/sun ~/.motifbind

  2. Remap the keysym of special keys:

Sun key PC key Unshifted Shifted Mode Switch Shift M/S
     =================================================================
Front F5 SunFront NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
Copy F6 F16 NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
Open F7 SunOpen NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
Paste F8 F18 NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
Find F9 Find NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
Cut F10 F20 NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
Undo F11 F14 NoSymbol NoSymbol NoSymbol
In this case, the F5 ~ F11 keys may not work with other dt applications because it has been mapped to Sun's special keys. Stop, Again and Props keys are not defined in the table above. If you need to remap the keys also, refer to:
    Key name Keysym
    ==================
    Stop Cancel (F11)
    Again Redo (F12)
    Props SunProps (F13)

To remap the Stop key, please allocate one of the function keys on your PC and change the Unshifted keysym value to "Cancel" or "F11". One of the two keysyms will work.

We hope this can help you.
