problems with Xshell 2.0 and UK keyboard

Hi,

I have a laptop with a UK keyboard. I've installed on friday the available version of Xmanager 2.1 (where there is Xshell 2.0) to evaluate wether to buy it or not and I've found a bug related to the support of the UK keyboard. This also relates to an earlier posting I saw on this forum about not being able to type the 'pipe' sign.

I've found that in the UK keyboard the 'pipe' sign (i.e. |) is shown by pressing the Shift + #~ key, while the 'tilde' sign (i.e. ~) is done by pressing Shift + the character left of number 1 on the keyboard. I think this is a bug in the driver for the keyboard and must be corrected in the program.

Please let me know if this problem is cured in any available patch of Xmanager 2.1

Regards,

Fabrizio

Re: problems with Xshell 2.0 and UK keyboard

Let me just point out that this problem does not occur when I type | or ~ on my login window or editing a file using for example 'pico' as editor, but just when I try to type it in a file opened using 'emacs' or 'Xemacs'...

Cheers,

Fab

The problem occurs when Xmanager Keyboard Settings are not configured properly for your PC. Please follow the instruction below:

1. Run Xconfig.
2. Double click Default Profile.
3. Click the Devices tab.
4. Click Keyboard Settings.
RESULT: Keyboard Settings dialog box opens up.
5. Click Add.
RESULT: Add Keyboard dialog box opens up.
6. Select UK 102 keyboard (uk102.xkb)
7. Click OK.
8. Click Set As Default for the uk102.xkb.
9. Save the changes and exit from Xconfig.

*While Xmanager is in use, you can use the hot key Ctrl+Alt+K for switching the keyboard.

Hope this solves your problem.
