Sending Delete for Backspace in key map for DEC VMS

I am accessing a VAX/VMS system using UK102 keyboard mapping file.

The backspace key (mapped to BackSpace) deletes the character after the cursor on the VAX, whereas the shifted backspace key (mapped to delete?) deletes the character before the cursor (the required behaviour). I tried to modify the mapping file to send Delete as the unshifted BS keysym but this does not appear to resolve my problem.

Please change the keysyms of the BackSpace key as following:

Unshifted: Delete
Shifted: NoSymbol
ModeSwitch: NoSymbol
Shift M/S: NoSymbol

If the problem persists, please post the keymap file you modified.

The recommended solution did not work but I was able to resolve the problem using the following mapping

Unshifted: Backspace
Shifted: NoSymbol
ModeSwitch: NoSymbol
Shift M/S: NoSymbol
