I have downloaded the latest xmanager and installation is ok but connecting to a remote server will give me error.

Error messages : XDMCP connection failed.Try again?

Waiting for client connections ...

Xdmcp: Timed out, state 3. Retransmissions: 0
Xdmcp Query Address: 200.1.34.69
Xdmcp Request Address: 200.1.34.69
Xdmcp Connection Address 0: 10.20.89.218

please help

Hi there,

The problem is that you and your server are located in a different network. My recommendation, use SSH and Xstart.

Once you get an xterm window running, use command 'gnome-session' for Gnome and 'start-kde' for KDE.

Tq Mark for the reply but still cannot run the xmanager. Got error message :


$ /usr/bin/X11/xterm -ls -display 10.20.89.218:0
Error: Can't open display: 10.20.89.218:0
Error: Couldn't find per display information
$

Don't set the display variable. Just leave it as is. So it should look like the following:

/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm -ls -display $DISPLAY

Also, choose SSH for Protocol from Xstart! Since you are in a different network with your server, if you use telnet, you won't be able to use xterm.
