How do I start xemacs from an xterm telnet window?

Hi,

I'm trying to start an xemacs session from a xterm window started by startx of XManager. The xterm window starts fine (my host is a RedHat 7.3 system), and I can export my DISPLAY environment string. But when I run xemacs, I get a lot of text about missing fonts and an eventual segmentation fault. How can I get this to work? I'm connecting to the linux box via a VPN connection, that works in all other regards, just so you know.

Thanks for your help,
Doug

You don't need to export a DISPLAY variable at the xterm prompt. The DISPLAY is already configured correctly once the xterm shows up.

And missing character set problem might happen because Xmanager doesn't have the fonts required for your language. Please add a font server in the Xconfig utility to solve this problem. For more information on font server, please read Xmanager Help.
