Re: Can not see the login windows in Redhat linux (gdm)!

Hello,

I've set a font server as FAQ#14 guide, but still failed! I got error "font server connection was failed" & "can not use font path element..", & in the log file i saw:
"Waiting for client connections ...

XdmcpFill: too few bytes(-1) received
Xdmcp: Timed out, state 3. Retransmissions: 0
Xdmcp Query Address: 10.70.211.223
XdmcpFill: too few bytes(-1) received"
PL, help me to solve this soon!
Best regards,

Re: Can not see the login windows in Redhat linux (gdm)!

Your login window may not appear when the remote host is not properly setup. Please refer to Xmanager FAQ # 2 for more information on how to setup your remote host.

For Redhat AS 2.1, you rarely need font server for login window to appear. Following procedure will run the font server nonetheless.
1. Open /etc/X11/fs/config file and comment out the following line.
no-listen = tcp => #no-listen = tcp
2. From the terminal type xfs.
3. Add the font server to your Xmanager profile.

TCP 7100 port is used by font server on the remote host. Make sure to allow it before making a connection.

If your problem persists, please tell us following information:
1. Detailed description of your network environment.
2. Xmanager log file. Log file can be found in the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\NetSarang\Xmanager\2\Log\*.log

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
