While installing Xmanager Enterprise I get an "Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly"

While installing Xmanager Enterprise, you may see the following error: "Error 1603: An error occurred during the installation of assembly."

The 1935 error is not an Xmanager Enterprise error nor is it exclusive to Xmanager Enterprise. It mostly occurs during the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package.

First, try rebooting Windows and then reinstalling Xmanager Enterprise. If that fails, the reason for the error may be one of the following:
  • The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package file is deleted, corrupted, or improperly installed
In this case, you'll need to reinstall the package. You can download the package directly from Microsoft here:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53840

  • Installation files corrupted by Antivirus Software
Your antivirus software may flag Xmanager Enterprise installation files during installation therefore making it impossible to install Xmanager Enterprise. You'll need to turn off real-time scanning and try installing Xmanager Enterprise again.
Note: Xmanager Enterprise does not contain a virus. Certain antivirus programs are overly aggressive as a precaution.

  • Part of the WIndows File System or the Transaction Log is corrupted
You'll need to run the command prompt as an administrator and then enter the following:

    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
(Change C:\ to your installation drive as necessary)

You can also check the system files by entering the following command:

    sfc /scannow

Once the scan is complete, restart Windows and try installing Xmanager Enterprise again.

Most 1935 errors will fall into one of the above categories. However, other various circumstances can also cause users to see this error. If you've tried all the solutions listed above, the issue may be related to one of the issues below:
  • The Windows Event Viewer service is down
If the Windows Event Log is not running, open the "Run" window and type "services.msc" and hit Ok. This will open the Services tool. Locate the Windows Event Log service and start it.

  • Adware causing a 1935 error
Certain adware programs may cause a 1935 error. You'll need to either force quit the adware program or remove it altogether. Permanently removing adware is always recommended. After the adware program is removed, try installing Xmanager Enterprise again.

While installing Xmanager I get an "Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation"

When installing Xmanager Enterprise, you may get an "Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation" message.

If you see this error message, try checking one of the following. These are common causes of the error.
  • Disk Space
Check to see if you have enough disk space in your drive. If not, you'll need to make room and try again.
  • Permissions
You may receive an Error 1603 if the folder into which you are installing is encrypted or if you do not have the neccesary permissions to access the folder. You'll need to make sure you have the proper rights as well as having read and write capabilities of the folder.
  • Destination
If you are installing to a destination such as a USB, the cloud, or a network drive and you lose connection, you may receive Error 1603. It is recommended that you install Xmanager Enterprise onto the drive on which Windows is installed.

Most 1603 errors will fall into one of the above categories. However, user settings can also cause users to see this error. If you've tried all the solutions listed above, try one of the solutions below:
  • Windows Installer Service
If the Windows Installer Service is not running, open the "Run" window and type "services.msc" and hit Ok. This will open the Services tool. Locate the Windows Installer Service and start it.

  • Antivirus Programs
Certain antivirus programs may check the installation files of Xmanager Enterprise while installing and it may delete them making installation impossible. Temporarily stop the real-time scan of the antivirus program and install Xmanager Enterprise. Note: Xmanager Enterprise does not contain a virus. Certain antivirus programs are overly aggressive as a precaution.

  • Registry
If a specific system registry is corrupted, you may get Error 1603.

  • Windows Temp Folder
If the Windows Temp Folder is not specified or is full, you may get Error 1603.

How do I perform silent (unattended) installation/uninstallation?

  1. Creating a response file
    Install Xmanager using the following:

    C:\TEMP> xmgr30.exe -r -f1c:\temp\xinstall.iss

After a successful installation, a response file, xinstall.iss, will be created in the temp directory.

  2. Silent installation
Using the response file created above, you can install Xmanager silently on another PC using the following:

    C:\TEMP> xmgr30.exe -s -f1c:\temp\xinstall.iss -f2c:\temp\result.log

*A silent installation will create a log file.
