Xmanager is a powerful X server that lets you run remote X client applications from a local PC. Even for the user with no X server/client experience, Xmanager is very easy to use. For an easier work environment, Xmanager detects all hosts accessible over the network when it starts. With a single mouse click, the user can be connected to any host. For advanced users, Xmanager provides powerful configuration tools to optimize the software in your preference.
Graphical improvement of user interface
Render extension is supported by Xmanager 3.0. This is a relatively new technology that is used in many X applications to enhance user experience and improve productivity. With Render extension, you can now work with more readable fonts and a more sophisticated work environment.

Safer & Easier way to access remote UNIX/Linux
Xmanager 3.0 supports Secure XDMCP which allows users to access remote hosts more safely and easily even if the PC is behind a firewall or gateway. This is a unique feature of Xmanager that was designed by NetSarang Computer, Inc. based on SSH tunneling technology. It is designed to help users to access the remote hosts without having to reconfigure existing firewalls or gateways.

Powerful session management tool
Xbrowser is a powerful session management tool for all NetSarang products. In Xbrowser, you can manage sessions for Xmanager, Xshell, and Xftp. With Xbrowser, it is now easier and faster to access UNIX/Linux, SSH/TELNET, and SFTP/FTP servers.

Xbrowser Dynamically searches for all available UNIX/Linux hosts
When Xbrowser starts, it dynamically searches for all accessible hosts in your network, and then creates a list of hosts that Xmanager can connect to. Because dynamic sessions are created automatically by Xbrowser, there is no need to setup an individual session for each server. With this feature, using the X Window System becomes as simple as point-and-click. Just point to a remote host you want to connect to and double-click-you will be instantly connected!

Instant connection using the Address bar
Using the Address bar, you can connect to various hosts with diverse protocols such as XDMCP and SFTP, FTP, SSH, and Telnet. Since the Address bar shares a similar look and feel with the address bar in Internet Explorer, getting used to this feature takes virtually no time.

Following protocols are supported by the Address bar.
  • xdmcp
  • xstart
  • xsession
  • ssh
  • telnet
  • rlogin
  • ftp
  • sftp

  • For Xmanager Enterprise users, SSH, FTP or SFTP command will automatically start Xshell (Terminal Emulator) or Xftp (FTP client). With our integrated solutions package, you will see all your remote resources becoming one with your PC.

Instant connection to the UNIX/Linux machines using the Address bar
The Address bar in Xbrowser provides yet another way to connect to remote hosts. With the Address bar, connecting to the remote host is as simple as opening a website. Now there is no need to create sessions for infrequently used servers or servers with the broadcast option turned off.

Using the Address bar to start TELNET/SSH sessions
You can also use the Address bar in Xbrowser to connect to the Telnet/SSH servers. With the Address bar, making a Telnet/SSH connection is as simple as opening a website. Just type in the Telnet/SSH command in the Address bar, and Xbrowser will start Xshell and a Telnet/SSH session for you. Now there is no need to start a separate terminal emulator for infrequently used or temporary servers to start a terminal session.

Note: Xmanager Enterprise or Xshell must be installed.

Xshell is a powerful terminal emulator by NetSarang Computer, Inc.

For more information, please refer to the Xshell detail page.

Using the Address bar to start FTP sessions
You can use the Address bar in Xbrowser to connect to the FTP servers. With the Address bar, connecting to the FTP server is as simple as opening a website. Just type the ftp/sftp command in the Address bar, and click go. Xbrowser will start Xftp and an ftp/sftp session for you automatically. Now there is no need to start a separate ftp client for infrequently used or temporary servers to start an ftp session.

Note: Xmanager Enterprise or Xftp must be installed.

Xftp is a powerful file transfer client by NetSarang Computer, Inc.

For more information, please refer to the Xftp detail page.

    Sending Xmanager/Xstart sessions via email
Oftentimes deployment of sessions can be very time consuming. The "Session via mail" feature lets you avoid the hassle of deployment by allowing you to send your Xmanager sessions to anyone in your list by using your default email client. The Administrator can now create a session only one time and distribute to users in no time.

Creating desktop shortcuts for faster access to the applications you need
The convenient desktop shortcut feature lets you create shortcuts icon right on your desktop. With this feature, you can open any X application just as you would open a Windows application. There is no need to start Xmanager anymore. Simply double-click on the shortcut icon and Xmanager will start the remote session or an X application. You can even register the shortcut in the Windows Startup menu, and the corresponding sessions will start automatically when Windows starts.

Creating session with New Session Wizard
New Session Wizard is a simple and intuitive point-and-click based session creation wizard for novice users of the X Window system. There are 4 steps in this wizard and you can proceed to the next step simply by selecting or entering some basic information and clicking Next. In each step, you will find thorough explanations of the options you are about to choose. With New Session Wizard, your X applications will be running on your desktop in no time.

Applying different profiles for each server and application
Xconfig lets you apply different X server settings to each server and application. With Xconfig, you can configure various X server options such as window mode, font, visual, and security and save it to each profile. If you are using various servers with applications that require different X server settings, you can use Xconfig to create multiple application/server-specific profiles and apply to each session accordingly. This allows you to run the most optimized Xmanager for every system and application.

Editing a Xconfig profile and applying it to multiple Xmanager sessions
Now you can change the X server settings and apply it to multiple sessions in a fraction of the time with an innovative new tool, Xconfig. Once you create the Xconfig profile, it can be applied to multiple Xmanager sessions. So when the UNIX/Linux machines or the applications require different X server settings such as visual and font, you can simply change the settings in one Xconfig profile which is then applied to all Xmanager sessions.

Securing your communication with the server using the SSH protocol
SSH protocol is the one of the most secure remote communication protocols available in the market today, and it is included in Xmanager by default. With SSH, all of your network communications between your PC and remote hosts are encrypted with highly reliable encryption algorithms. However, there is more to SSH than security. The X11Forwarding feature of SSH lets you run any remote X application through a secure SSH tunnel regardless of the complexity of your network environment.

Running X Application through SSH protocol: Click

Generating the user/public key with SSH Key Generation Wizard
On top of password authentication, public key authentication can provide extra security for your server. But adopting the public key system can be very tricky at first. To ease this process, User Key Generation Wizard guides you through each step from selecting the key type (DSA/RSA) to creating passphrase in a simple point-and-click format. Also, by creating the user key in your PC, you can prevent unnecessary transfer of the key and avoid the key getting into the hands of unauthorized people.

Preventing unauthorized use of Xmanager with Access Control
Access Control is a unique security tool that lets users decide which hosts can connect to Xmanager. Any unauthorized connection to your PC is rejected automatically.

Opening multiple Xmanager instances with different X server settings
Xconfig lets you create multiple profiles. With this profile features, you can fine-tune your Xmanager to meet your servers' requirement. Each profile contains various X server options, such as window mode, font, visual, securities and more. Once the profile is created, it can then be applied to multiple Xmanager sessions. Users can apply different profiles to Xmanager sessions to accommodate a wide range of UNIX/Linux machines.

Using MS-DOS command line options to connect to the UNIX/Linux hosts
Advanced users can greatly benefit from the command line options that Xmanager provides. Command line options give users a tool to make their existing software interoperate with Xmanager. This feature provides you with unbeatable interoperability that you can find in no other product.
