To start
Xlpd, follow the same procedures to execute other Windows program.
- On the Windows Start menu, click Programs.
- From the programs listed, click Xlpd.
RESULT: The Xlpd main window opens and an icon is visible in the system tray.

When you execute
Xlpd, its icon is created in the system tray. Even if you close the main window,
Xlpd does not exit but waits for print jobs. By selecting the tray icon menu, you can open the main window to display the print jobs or to change the configuration of
Xlpd if necessary.
To close Xlpd main window:
- Click Close on the main window.
RESULT: The main window disappears.
To open Xlpd main window:
- Point to Xlpd icon in the system tray.
- Right-click in the tray icon. RESULT: The Tray menu appears.
- Click Open.
From the remote host, enter the print command to print a text file 'test.txt'.
$ lpr -Pserver test.txt
or
$ lpr -dserver test.txt
Note: The print command varies depending on the host type. And before you print from the remote host, you should configure the remote printer. To get a detailed description for the commands and remote printer setup, see the help of Xlpd program.
