How do I send a 'break' in telnet and serial connections?

I have been not able to figure out how to send a 'break' in telnet and serial connections.
BTW, the little Sun Keypad is very helpful

Ctrl + Pause key combination will send the 'Break' signal.

If the problem persists, please send us the following information:

1. What is the type of your remote host?
2. What is the terminal type?

I tried "CTRL-pause" with several different terminal types connecting to a Cisco router thru the serial port; no luck.
I actually just noticed that there is a "Send Break" menu item when I right-click on the terminal screen itself. I will give that a try next opportunity.
Also what is the key combination for the Telnet Escape character? it says: Escape character is '^@]' but I can't figure out how to generate that.

We have found a problem with sending escape character and will include the fix in the future releases.
